Following a nine-day break from competition, the University of Akron women's basketball team will welcome Lake Erie College to Rhodes Arena Monday at 7 p.m... Despite a 14-point halftime lead, Akron needed 11 second-half points from Kara Murphy and nine from Rachel Tecca to lead the Zips to a 75-63 victory over Youngstown State Saturday afternoon at Rhodes Arena... Murphy, who scored seven of Akron's final 12 points, led the Zips (4-4) with 16 points, adding six rebounds, while Tecca finished with 13 points and six boards as well... The Storm are off to their best start in school history with a 7-4 record entering play Monday... The Division II program is coming off an 85-73 victory over Slippery Rock last Saturday afternoon and come to Akron having won four straight games... The Storm features four double-digit scorers, led by Alyssa Wagers, who averages 13.3 points and 9.3 rebounds per contest.

Looking for its third straight victory, the Central Michigan women's basketball team heads to the state of Alabama for two games in two days, starting with a Monday clash against UAB. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m., CT... After starting the season 0-5, the Chippewas have won their last two contests, including an 84-75 upset of 25th-ranked Louisville on Dec. 2... Central Michigan is coming off a 70-68 victory over Valparaiso on Dec. 5... Senior Britni Houghton leads the team in scoring with 16.7 points a game, while junior Kaihla Szunko is the leading rebounder with 9.7 boards a game... The Blazers are coming off an 84-60 win over Mississippi Valley State on Dec. 5... UAB is led by senior forward Tamika Dukes, averaging 12.5 points and 6.9 rebounds a game... Freshman guard Jala Harris also has been an all-around force for the Blazers, with 12.4 points, 4.5 boards and 3.6 assists a game.
