Saint Peter's at Toledo, Noon Toledo looks to extend its winning streak to three games when it battles Saint Peter's in non-conference action... UT is coming off an impressive 87-75 victory at Oakland on Wednesday... Sophomore Naama Shafir poured in a career-high 36 points to lead the offensive charge against the Golden Grizzlies, to go along with seven boards and seven helpers... Shafir tallied 28 of UT's 49 second-half points, including an amazing 22 points-in-a-row during one stretch... Toledo shot a season-high 56.0 percent (28-of-50) from the field, including a sizzling 55.6 percent (10-of-18) from three-point land, and an even better 87.5 percent (21-of-24) from the charity stripe... The Peacocks feature a balanced attack with four players averaging double figures led by Jynae Judson's 15.5 ppg, 6.0 rpg and 2.0 apg... Alena Ali (14.5 ppg, 6.0 rpg), Charlene Riddick (13.0 ppg, team-high 8.0 rpg) and Natasha Morris (12.0 ppg, 5.0 rpg, 2.0 apg) are also averaging double digits for sixth-year head coach Stephanie DeWolfe. Kent State at Marshall, Noon Kent State enters today's contest 2-0 after posting at 70-55 victory over tYoungstown State for KSU's fourth straight win over its regional rival... Jamilah Humes (Saginaw, Mich.) had a team-best 14 points, aided by a 6-of-7 effort from the free throw line, while Yoshica Spears added 12 points in her first collegiate start.... Kent State's 50 caroms were the most since a 51-rebound effort against Northern Illinois Feb. 7, 2009... Spears had a game-high 13 rebounds, surpassing her previous best of eight boards, which she tied in the season opener against Robert Morris. Marshall is in search of its first victory of the season after back-to-back home losses to begin the 2009-10 campaign... Senior Alyssa Hammond and junior Tynikki Crook pace Marshall offensively with 12.5 and 12.0 points per game, respectively, while sophomore Rashedah Henriques is also chipping in 10.0 points per outing... The Herd boasts a 1.19 assist/turnover ratio early on and is averaging 10.0 steals per game on the defensive side of the ball. Bowling Green at Marist, 1:00 p.m. The Bowling Green State University women's basketball team will head east for the team's third and final game in the Preseason Women's National Invitation Tournament... Through two games, four Falcons have double-digit scoring averages ... Tamika Nurse and Tracy Pontius have 14.0 points per game apiece, while Lauren Prochaska is averaging 12.0 ppg and a team-leading 7.0 rebounds per contest ... The Ramblers saw a 13-point second half lead evaporate over the final six minutes, with the Broncos forcing overtime on a clutch basket with 1.7 seconds remaining. Wake Forest at Miami, 2:00 p.m. Miami opens its home schedule on Saturday afternoon.... The RedHawks are currently 1-1 on the year after reaching the championship game of the Iona Tip-Off Tournament last weekend... Freshman point guard Courtney Osborn had a breakout game for the RedHawks, scoring 22 points on 7-of-14 shooting, including 4-for-5 on three-point baskets... After the conclusion of the tournament, she and senior forward Ashleigh Brown were named to the All-Tournament Team... Wake Forest is 2-0 on the season having defeated Jacksonville 64-47 on Nov. 13 and South Florida 62-45 on Nov. 18...The Demon Deacons have been led by junior forward Brittany Waters during the first two contests, as she is averaging 16.5 points per game. Temple at Buffalo, 2:00 p.m. Buffalo fell 77-60 on Monday night to Hofstra... The Bulls were led by 13 points from Jessica Fortman, who had three rebounds and one steal... Beth Christensen had a career-high 11 points, all in the first half, while adding eight rebounds and tying a career-best with three steals...Junior Kourtney Brown had to sit for most of the first half due to foul trouble, but still finished the game with nine points and a team-high 10 rebounds... Brown also had her first two blocks of the season... Temple opened the season at home by overcoming an 18-point deficit to defeat Illinois, 82-78 in overtime... Leading Temple was Shaqwedia Wallace who scored a career-high 27 points. Northern Arizona at Ball State, 4:30 p.m. The Cardinals fell 61-58 to Western Kentucky Monday night in Worthen Arena. With the loss Ball State falls to 0-2 overall while the Lady Toppers improved to 2-0... Junior forward Emily Maggert recorded her second straight double-double night after recording 22 points and 11 rebounds... The double-double performance Monday was the fourth of Maggert's career... Senior guard Audrey McDonald dropped in 11 points and dished out four assists, while sophomore guard Patrice King had 10 points on the night... The Lumberjacks make their first visit to Ball State Saturday. Currently NAU has a 0-3 record after suffering losses to Pepperdine (96-67), UC Riverside (81-63) and UMKC (59-58)... Freshman guard Amy Patton is the strong shooter for NAU as she is averaging 19.0 points per game so far this season and 8.7 rebounds. |
