The Northern Illinois women's basketball team hosts Northern Iowa, Wednesday at noon in the Convocation Center... Over 800 students from local elementary schools will be in attendance as part of "Homeroom with the Huskies."... The Huskies are 3-3 on the season after falling 78-67 to No. 15 DePaul on Saturday... Marke Freeman leads the team with 16.5 points per game, including a 26-point effort against the Blue Demons... Mauvolyene Adams averages 14.7 points per game, and Ebony Ellis averages a double-double, with 13 points and 11.5 rebounds per game... Northern Iowa opened the season with losses in its first four games, but played a difficult schedule... After losing a two-point decision to North Dakota State, the Panthers lost match-ups with Missouri (74-57), Iowa (81-70) and Louisville (81-53). UNI picked up its first win of the season with a 65-60 victory over Butler, Nov. 28... The Panthers are led in scoring by forward Kim Wypiszynski, who is scoring 13.8 points per game while averaging 5.6 rebounds.

The Eastern Michigan University women's basketball team returns to the road Wednesday evening, Dec. 2, for a non-conference affair versus the University of Notre Dame... EMU enters the game with a 5-1 mark after dispatching a talented Missouri State University team, 93-81, at the Convocation Center, Nov. 29... the Eagles connected on a staggering 15-of-28 (.536) from beyond the arc... Sophomore guard Tavelyn James had a game-high 31 points (7-15 3FG), while junior guard Cassie Schrock added 26 points (4-6 3FG, 12-14 FT), six rebounds, six assists and four steals... Notre Dame, ranked fifth in the latest Associated Press poll and sixth in the current ESPN/USA Today coaches' poll, is 6-0 on the young season... Setting the tone for the Irish will be a trio of senior captains, including returning all-BIG EAST Conference guards Lindsay Schrader and Ashley Barlow, both of whom also were tabbed for this year's preseason all-conference team... Schrader was a first-team all-BIG EAST pick last season after piling up career bests of 12.6 points and 7.4 rebounds per game... In addition, she registered seven double-doubles, breaking the school single-season record for guards previously set by Danielle Green (1998-99).

The Bulls had a seven-point halftime lead, but fell to Maine, 58-53, in the consolation round of the Dead River Classic at Maine's Alfond Arena. The loss drops UB to 1-4 on the season... The Bulls were led by 17 points and eight rebounds from Kourtney Brown... Abby Dowd had a career-high nine points, while adding four rebounds, four assists and three steals... Four of Providence's five victories this season have been decided by 20+ points, including two games by more than 30 points... It marks the most 20+ point victories in a season since 1995-96... The Friars have out-rebounded four of their six opponents on the year and are 4-0 in those games.

After playing their last five games on the road, the University of Akron women's basketball team returns to Rhodes Arena to host IPFW Wednesday night at 7 p.m. (EST)... Despite a gutsy 14-2 run late in the second half, the Zips dropped a 70-64 decision to Tulsa Saturday on the second day of the Florida Gulf Coast Thanksgiving Classic in Fort Myers, Fla... Kara Murphy tallied game-highs in scoring and rebounding for the Zips with 21 points and 8 boards, while Jolene Tamboue finished in double figures in the scoring column with 10... The Mastodons come to town having lost their last three games after defeating Wright State (83-67) in their home opener... During their current skid, IPFW has been defeated by Butler (65-57), Northwestern (78-58) and Eastern Illinois (68-64)... As a team, IPFW is averaging 66.6 points per game (fourth in the Summit League) while shooting 40.3 percent (fifth) from the floor...  Defensively, they have allowed an average of 69.5 points per game (fifth).
