Getting To Know: Buffalo's James Starks
James Starks is a senior running back for the Buffalo Bulls. Starks had a record-breaking season as the Bulls’ running back last year, setting single-season school records for carries (272) and rushing yards (1,333), all while missing two and a half games. He ran for 16 touchdowns while catching another. Starks was named All-MAC First Team and ranked second in the MAC and 15th in the nation in rushing (111.1) last year. He had six 100-yard rushing games...scored a rushing touchdown in each of the final nine games of the season. Below is a closer look at the UB running back...

1. Why did you choose to come to Buffalo?

I thought that I could make a difference and help turn around a struggling program.

 

2. What do you consider your greatest accomplishment so far as an athlete?

Being apart of a MAC championship.

 

3. What is the best advice you have received from a coach?

My high school coach Sal Constantino always told me that I was the best player on the field and that really helped build my confidence.

 

4. What would you like to be doing in ten years?

Playing in the NFL.

 

5. What were you up to this summer?

Working out every day.

 

6. What would your superhero name be?

Night Wolf

 

7. When you were a little kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?

Fireman

 

8. What is the best class you've taken at Buffalo?

Sign Language

 

9. What would your ideal job be? (outside of playing sports professionally)

Working with kids. Giving back to the community.

 

10. What is the most notable thing about your hometown?

The Niagara Falls are in my backyard.

 

11. What was your first job?

Working with kids at a resource center.

 

12. What is your favorite TV show?

The Simpsons

 

13. Besides football, what sport would you have pursued for a college scholarship?

Basketball
