Five Men's Basketball Teams Take The Hardwood Today
Eastern Michigan, Miami and Akron all finish up at tournaments today, while Northern Illinois and Kent State will each host opponents.

Glenn Wilkes Classic (Daytona Beach, Fla.)
11 a.m. • First Meeting
•Akron is coming off a 63-59 win over Drake yesterday at the Glenn Wilkes Classic. It marked the first victory of the season for the Zips. Anthony Hitchens scored all of his 17 points in the second half and hit a 3-pointer with 2:08 left put Akron ahead for good. After shooting 30.9 percent (17-of-55) from the floor and getting outrebounded 39-26 in Friday's loss to the North Carolina State, Akron made 46.9 percent (23-of-49) of its attempts from the field against Drake and claimed the battle of the glass, 32-27...Howard is still in search of its first win of the season and is coming off a 57-33 loss to Georgia State. The Bison only shot 25.6 percent from the floor for the game and Kyle Riley led the Bison in the loss with six points.

•Northern Illinois will look to secure its second win in just three days, when the Huskies host Southeast Missouri State.The Huskies are coming off Friday's 85-57 victory over visiting Tennessee State, marking NIU's first victory of the season. Junior center Sean Kowal recorded the third double-double of his career with 18 points and 10 rebounds; classmate Darion "Jake" Anderson added nine points with a career-high 13 rebounds. Northern Illinois shot 54.4 percent (31-57) from the field, and held the Tigers to just a 35 percent (21-60) shooting effort for the game... SEMO is off to an 0-2 start after dropping respective double-digit decisions at Saint Louis (59-41 on Nov. 14) and versus Arkansas State (73-49), where Nutt served as the head coach for 13 seasons. SEMO returned just four letterwinners, but three starters, from last season.
Rochester College (6-4, 0-0 Non DI) at Kent State (3-1, 0-0 MAC)

•Kent State returns to the M.A.C. Center to face Rochester College [Mich.] as part of the final game of the Hispanic College Fund Classic on Sunday night. The Golden Flashes turned in their best defensive effort of the year as they picked up their third win of the season with a 70-61 victory at Youngstown State on Wednesday. Rodriguez Sherman leads the team in four different categories; points (14.8 ppg), rebounds (5.5 rpg), assists (3.8) and steals (1.8 spg)... Rochester had compiled a 6-4 record heading into Saturday's game at Oakland. Center Ricky Doran led the team with 15 points and six rebounds in the Warrior's other Hispanic College Fund Classic game against Green Bay last Monday.

Basketball Travelers Tournament (Albuquerque, N.M.)
8 p.m. • New Mexico leads series 1-0
• Miami will look to win its second consecutive game when the RedHawks take on host New Mexico at the Basketball Travelers Tournament today. Senior guard Kenny Hayes scored 23 points, while junior guard Rodney Haddix II amassed a career-high 21 points and sophomore forward Julian Mavunga collected his second-straight double-double (12 points; 10 rebounds) to lead Miami to a 69-58 win over Nicholls State last night. After shooting 44.4 percent from the field in the first half and 43.8 percent in each half against Louisiana Tech on Friday, the RedHawks got back on track from the field in the second half, hitting 52.4 percent of their field goals over the final 20 minutes...New Mexico has started the season with a 4-0 record and will look for its fifth striaght victory today. The Lobos are coming off an 81-52 win over Louisiana Tech. Junior-college transfer Darington Hobson scored a career-high 30 points and pulled down 10 rebounds in the win.

9 p.m. • First Meeting
• Eastern Michigan got back on the winning track after defeating Maryland-Eastern Shore by a score of 76-51 last night. EMU's Juston Dobbins tallied 19 points on 9-for-13 shooting from the field in 29 minutes of play to pace the Eagle offense and improve EMU's record to 2-1 this season. Redshirt junior forward Brandon Bowdry turned in his third straight double-digit scoring effort, as he finished the game with 14 point on 4-for-9 shooting from the field and 6-for-6 shooting from the free throw line...Missouri State comes into the game with a record of 3-0. The Bears are coming off a 72-55 win over Citadel last night. Kyle Weems scored 16 second-half points and finished with 23 to lead Missouri State. Caleb Patterson had 13 points for Missouri State and Nafis Ricks added 10.
