Melissa Lantz, Missouri State, Jr., Forward, Wildwood, Mo./Lafayette High (Offensive)
Melissa scored the only goal for the Bears against Indiana off a corner to escape from being shut out against a top-ranked team. She did a great job jump-starting the offense for the Bears. She is leading the team with 13 points and 15 of her 20 shots are on goal.
Sandy Fulkerson, Missouri State, Sr., Defense, Wexford, Pa./North Allegheny High (Defensive)
Sandy did a great job of clearing the ball out of the circle for the Bears, taking away the opponent’s scoring chances. She also did well stepping up to the ball and making timely interceptions at midfield.
Katelyn Shelley, Ohio, Jr., Forward, Ephrata, Pa. (Offensive)
“Katelyn gives us a lot of options up front and through the midfield,” Ohio head coach Neil Macmillan said. “She had good positioning in the goal against Ohio State. She made a great move to get herself open and the goal was fired above the keepers head into the net.” Shelley had Ohio’s lone goal against Ohio State, in which she redirected a pass from outside the circle over the goalie’s head. Shelley started against Ohio State and saw the field often against Louisville.
Nikki Gnozzio, Ohio, Sr., Back, Flanders, N.J. (Defensive)
“Nikki’s energy is one thing that really helps in the back,” Ohio head coach Neil Macmillan said. “Even though we had two defeats this week, we were very solid at the back and she played every minute against Ohio State, including both overtimes where she broke up scoring chances for the Buckeyes. She was an anchor at the back.” Gnozzio started both games this week.
