Laura Neufarth picks up second runner of the week honor of the season, while Aiman Scullion garners first honor of the year.

Scullion placed first overall at the Lock Haven Invitational with a 10k time of 32:04.19

Men’s Cross Country Runner Of The Week

Aiman Scullion, Kent State, So., Salem, Ohio (Salem)

Placed first overall at the Lock Haven Invitational with a 10k time of 32:04.19. It was Scullion’s first career first-place finish.  

 

Women’s Cross Country Runner Of The Week

Laura Neufarth, Miami, So., Centerville, Ohio (Centerville)

Neufarth has won each of her first three meets as a RedHawk after finishing first out of all collegiate runners at the Cedarville Invitational on Saturday with a time of 18:08.68. She helped Miami finish first out of 19 teams in Saturday's meet. The RedHawks have finished first, second and first in their first three meets of the 2007 season. They will next run at the All-Ohio Championships on Oct. 5.

 


Men’s Cross Country Runner Of The Week Nominations

Dan Giza, Buffalo, Sr., Lancaster, NY. (Lancaster)

Michigan State Spartan Invite, 8k Course 

Time: 25:38

Dan ran a very aggressive race at the Spartan Invite.  He started out with the lead pack and maintained that position through 5k.  Dan placed 12th overall in a very strong field, and was the first MAC finisher.                                             

 

Riak Mabil, Central Michigan, So., Lansing, Mich. (Grand Ledge)

Spartan Invitational/8k

Time: 25:47.00

Mabil finished 15th at the Spartan Invitational, hosted by Michigan State.

 

Craig Leon, Ohio, Sr., Van Wert, Ohio (Van Wert)

Bowling Green’s Mel Brodt Invite, 8k course

Time: 24.39.21

Craig Leon led the Ohio men’s team to a second place finish in its season opener at the Mel Brodt Invite at Bowling Green State University. Leon finished 1st overall on the men’s 8k course, more than 13 seconds before the 2nd place finisher.

Time: 25:25.8   

Finished 46 seconds behind the first place finisher.

 

 

Women’s Cross Country Runner Of The Week Nominations

Mary Veith, Buffalo, Jr., Lake Shore, NY (Lake Shore)

Michigan State Spartan Invite, 6k Course

Time: 21:52 

Veith ran an excellent race at the Spartan Invite, placing 6th overall in a time of 21:52.  Mary ran in the top 10 from the start, and closed the last 2k of the course very strong. 

 

Ashley Fischer, Bowling Green, Fr., Fremont, Ohio (Fremont Ross)

Fischer finished 9th at this weekend's Mel Brodt Invitational at BG with a time of 18:14, which was just 21 seconds back of the race winner, Katie Bagley of Malone College.

 

Kelly McClure, Central Michigan, Jr., Iron Mountain, Mich. (Iron Mountain)

Spartan Invitational/6K   

Time: 22:21     

McClure finished ninth at the meet for her second top 10 finish in as many meets this season.  The non-scored event included No. 10-ranked Michigan State.          

 

Kassandra Meholick, Kent State, Fr., New Cumberland, Pa. (Cedar Cliff)      

Lock Haven Invitational/ 6k

Time: 21:43.0   

Placed seventh overall               

                       

Meghan Ginter, Northern Illinois, Jr., Aurora, Ill. (Waubonsie Valley)

Time: 18:31

Placed 16th out of 206 competitors. Recorded a P.R.

 

Carime Reinhart, Ohio, Sr., Bascom, Ohio (Hopewell-Loudon)

Bowling Green’s Mel Brodt Invite, 5k course

Time: 17:57.01

Carime Reinhart, fresh off her MAC Championship 1st place finish in 2006, led the Ohio women’s team to first place at the Mel Brodt Invite. Reinhart took 2nd overall in the women’s 5k race, just more than four seconds behind the leader.

 

Nicole Camp, Toledo, Sr., Sterling, Ohio (Norwayne) 

Mel Brodt Invitational/5k 

Time: 18:27.6   

Came in 12th place about 35 seconds behind the first place finisher.
