Miami's Lape and Eastern Michigan's Keppler are tabbed with this week's honors.

Track Athlete of the Week

Alexis Lape, Miami, Jr., Lancaster, Ohio/ Lancaster

Lape competed in the 100 meter hurdles (14.81) she finished 6th, 400 meter hurdles(61.30) which was a personal best finishing  2nd, and  4X400 meter relay (57.6 split) finishing 4th.

 

Field Athlete of the Week

Janice Keppler, Eastern Michigan, Jr., Medina, N.Y/Medina

Keppler, the defending pole vault champion opened the outdoor season with a seventh place performance at the Stanford Invitational, clearing 12-01.50.

 


 

Track Nominees

 

Cassie Schenck, Akron, Fr., Mantua, Ohio/Crestwood

Won the 3,000 steeplechase at the Florida Relays with a time of 11:10.60, which ranks as the fifth-best effort in UA history.

 

Carly Bates, Bowling Green, So.,Palatine, Ill./Palatine H.S.

Carly Bates captured the 1500-meter race at the Oliver Nikoloff Invitational in Cincinnati, Ohio with a time of 4:41.74, a mere 17 seconds behind the all-time fastest time in the bGSU record books. She helped the Falcons finish third in the 19-team field.

 

Raeanne Lohner, Central Michigan, Fr., East Grand Rapids, Mich./East Grand Rapids

Lohner took first in the 1500 meter with a time of 4:44.66.

 

Melissa Green, Eastern Michigan, Jr., Brecksville, Ohio/Brecksville Broadview Heights

Green shattered her school record in the 3,000-meter steeplechase on her way to qualifying for the NCAA Mideast Regional meet. Her time of 10:48.14 breaks her previous record by 12 seconds.

 

Breezie Gibson, Toledo, Jr., Columbus, Ohio/Grovesport Madison

Gibson ran the 100-meter dash in 12.23, qualifying her for the NCAAs, and placing third in the event at the Duke Invitational. She also finished ninth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.26.

 

Victoria Chatman, Western Michigan, Fr., Taylor, Mich./Taylor Kennedy

Chatman's 400-meter dash time of 53.74 seconds beat the NCAA Regional qualifying time. It was also a Kanley Track record for the event.

 

 

Field Nominees

Liz Honegger, Bowling Green, Sr., Lafayette, Ind./Jefferson

Senior Liz Honegger captured the discus crown at the 2008 Oliver Nikoloff Invitational with a toss of 144-03.

 

Allison Jakubowski, Central Michigan, Jr., Casco, Mich./Anchor Bay

Jakubowski's took first in the javlin with a throw of 131-10. This mark was a personal record.

 

Kristina Bolterstein, Miami, Sr., Middleburg Heights, Ohio/ Midpark

Finished second in the High Jump with a jump of 5-8 ¾. NCAA Regional Provisional Mark.

 

Michelle Sutherland, Toledo, Jr., Maumee, Ohio/Maumee

Sutherland came in fifth place in the high jump at the Duke Invitational this weekend. She had a leap of 1.70m (5-07.00).
