Cleveland, Ohio - The Bowling Green Falcons earned their first automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament since 2007 with their 62-53 win over Toledo in the 2010 MAC Tournament Championship Game. The contest between the MAC No.1 and No. 2 seeds featured nine lead changes and five ties.

The year's title is the tenth MAC Tournament Championship Bowling Green has won in the history of the program. The Falcons last won the MAC Tournament in 2007. Bowling Green Junior Lauren Prochaska was named the Tournament MVP and registered 29 points in the MAC Championship Game.

2010 First Team All-MAC honoree Tanika Mays scored two three-pointers in the first five minutes of the game to give Toledo the early 10-2 lead. Mays continued her hot shooting through the first twelve minutes of the first half, scoring 11 points as the Rockets built a 22-12 lead over Bowling Green.

Bowling Green then went on a 17-4 run in the final eight minutes of the first half behind 7 points from 2010 MAC Player of the Year Lauren Prochaska. This run gave the Falcons a 29-24 lead at halftime. At the intermission, Prochaska led BGSU with 12 points while Mays led Toledo with her 11 points.

Toledo came out in the second half with a quick 6-0 run to take a 30-29 lead. The next eight minutes of action saw scoring on both ends of the court, resulting in five lead changes and one tie. With 8:55 remaining in the game Toledo held a 43-42 edge over the BGSU Falcons.

Prochaska hit a three-pointer with 7:56 remaining in the game that gave the Falcons a 45-42 lead. Toledo failed to recapture the lead after this point despite cutting the deficit to a one-point lead twice in the final minutes of the game.

Prochaska finished with a game-high 29 points, while Mays led the Rockets with 18 points. 2010 All-MAC Second Team member Melissa Goodall pulled down a game-high 13 rebounds for Toledo.

The Falcons will wait until Monday to find out their seeding and first-round matchup in the 2010 NCAA Tournament. The bracket, which will be released live on ESPN at 7:00 PM EST, will also reveal the site where the Falcons will play.
