Toledo Head Coach Tricia Cullop (Opening Statement): "Our kids played their hearts out. This game came down to the wire and I think it lived up to its billing. I think these are two teams that are very evenly matched and in the end, they made some shots and we didn't."
On being outshot from the free throw line: "We had trouble getting to the line but that was our fault. We weren't strong enough with the ball. When you aren't strong with it, you don't put the pressure on the refs to blow the whistle. When we did start to get there, our free throw woes from yesterday continued."
On motivation for next season: "Sometimes something like today can spur you on to better things in the future. I'm sure Bowling Green has had the memory of last year's game with Ball State in the back of their minds for awhile and they used it to their advantage. We know now what's at stake for us in the future and the type of effort it will take to get there."
Senior Forward Tanika Mays (On guarding Lauren Prochaska): "She's a great player, obviously. We knew she would make her shots. Our goal was to try to limit her and just focus on executing when we had the ball."
Junior Forward Melissa Goodall (On Bowling Green run to end the first half): "We committed a lot of silly fouls for a stretch. It kind of snowballed and we started to turn the ball over and got out of the rhythm that we had been in."
Bowling Green Head Coach Curt Miller (Opening Statement): "It's hard to express how excited we are. It's an unbelievable feeling, especially after the poor start to the game. We trusted our game plan and we came back because of our defense. I can't be prouder for our senior class and for our entire program. It's a great finish to MAC play for us this year."
On the impact Toledo is having on the league: "Every once in awhile, a coach will come along and change the entire dynamic of the league. In these last couple of seasons, you've seen Toledo bring in some very talented post players and force teams to adjust to the way they play."
On today's defense: "Our team defense won this game. Not individual, team. We don't have any great individual defenders on our team but we play very well together as a group. We were fortunate to take care of business early on in our previous two games and were able to rest our starters more than Toledo was able to. As we came down the stretch today, I felt that our players definitely had the fresher legs."
Junior Guard Lauren Prochaska (On strong performance today after struggling in previous tournament games): "My teammates and coaches did a good job of getting me open today. Once they take care of that, it's up to me to knock my shots down. We were a little impatient in our offense but once we made some adjustments we started to get the shots we were looking for."
Senior Forward Tara Breske (On winning MAC title as a senior): "Any championship is going to be incredible but it does mean a little more to win as a graduating senior. Winning is becoming a tradition here and today the torch was passed onto the underclassmen. Hopefully the next wave of players will take what we've tried to instill and continue to build on what we have."
